A new event, combining several existing events

The Festival of Learning is a week-long celebration of learning and teaching in B.C. higher ed to be held on June 6 – 9, 2016 at the Delta Burnaby Hotel & Conference Centre, in Burnaby, B.C. BCcampus is delighted to host this collaborative, multi-offering by a number of well-known and well-attended annual provincial events and groups, including:

  • British Columbia Teaching & Learning Council (BCTLC), Symposium: Scholarly Teaching & Learning
  • Educational Technology Users Group (ETUG), ETUG Workshops
  • BCcampus Open Education, Open Textbook Summit
  • British Columbia Teaching & Learning Network (BCTLN)
  • British Columbia Association of Institutes and Universities (BCAIU) – TBC

Faculty, educational developers, educational technologists, leaders, and all who work in support of teaching and learning in B.C. higher ed will find a variety of invitations to learn, laugh, create and collaborate with colleagues from across the higher ed sector in B.C.

This event will combine features of traditional conferences (speakers, presentations, etc. ), with fun and unique formats like salons, studios, cafes, and maker fairs.  The Festival schedule will also include multiple-day workshops focussed on specific themes, as well as a variety of social events and spaces for groups to connect and cross-pollinate.

The Festival of Learning is a new conference experience in higher education.

The Festival of Learning will combine features of traditional conferences (speakers, presentations, etc. ), with fun and unique formats like salons, studios, cafes, and maker fairs. The Festival schedule will also include whole-day or multiple-day workshops focussed on specific topics (e.g., Course Redesign, Open Pedagogy, Liberating Structures), as well as a variety of social events and spaces for groups to connect and cross-pollinate (e.g., Carnival/Mardi Gras night, pub night, music jams, etc).
